Creating Volume
I decided I needed another go at the 60’s hairstyle. I have
chosen a model with shorter hair than Zaina so I can achieve more lift. I feel I
could do better than the hairstyle I created in the lesson so here is my second
attempt.
Firstly I washed my models hair to make sure there was no
product or sebum build up to ensure I would get a good lift with no drag. I also conditioned the mid length and ends of
the hair, as conditioner can weigh the hair down.
I used Velcro rollers in the hair after blast drying the
majority of the moisture out. I used 3 different sizes of rollers as they were
the only things available, but I would stick to one or two sizes for a shoot.
I dried the hair in rollers with a high heat, and then
blasted with cool air to allow the hairstyle to set. I dried the underneath
section and used a barrel brush to create a flick at the ends of the hair as
this is very typical of the sixties.
I am really happy with the result. I feel I achieved the
right amount of height and the hairstyle looked really fab on my model. I know
when creating volume, clean hair is the best hair to work on.
