Creating texture

Textured Beach Hair

Textured hair is great for effortless, tousled hairstyles that look like they took a minuet to put up. Great for shoots with an effortlessly chic feel, and summer/ beach inspired looks.

To start:
  •     Wet down your models hair with a water spray, just focus on the mid lengths to ends
  • Use mouse, and/or salt spray to help create the texture, again, just focus on mid lengths and ends
  • Then use a diffuser or hands to create the texture      If with a diffuser, hold it vertically so the hair can be placed onto it, this prevents any curls/ waves from being blown out      If using your hand, scrunch the hair up and blow-dry from underneath
  • Ensure all the hair is dry

In class practise

I was really happy with my textured hair, all the diffusers were being used so I used my hands instead, I found the key was using my hand as if it were a diffuser, instead of grabbing and scrunching the hair, I placed my hand underneath and lifted and scrunched whilst blow-drying from mainly the bottom.

I styled the hair into a low chignon and added a wiggle plait either side of the hair to give it some more interest. The chignon was supposed to be a ‘messy’ look but I feel I smoothed down too much of the hair when I was styling it.
